There are more foreigners
in the 8th Textile Expo' 2007. When five foreign professional design
companies from Germany, Italy and England appeared on the textile,
both the foreign designers and their design works became the "hot"
focus. Our reporter interviewed a German designer, Claudia.
"It is a common practice to separate the fabric
production and fabric design in Europe where factories and design
companies shoulder different responsibilities, which promotes the
professionalization of both sectors."Claudia told our reporter that,
as soon as her new textile designs showed on the Textile Expo',
many customers showed close concern on them. Although
she sold few designs, she never felt frustrated, since in her eyes,
it will take a bit of time for the textile enterprises in Shaoxing
to accept designs from professional design companies.
As for Claudia's job, textile design, she
dashed along. For different cultures and tastes in different countries
and regions, she said, the designers should spare no efforts to satisfy
the target customers' needs and tastes. In order to prove her idea,
she produced a design work with some geometry pattern."This is prepared
for Chinese. If I try to sell it in Turkey, I will fail completely."
Her design works have been sold to many markets in Europe, USA, Middle
East etc. However, in different countries, her designs will soak up
different cultural elements.
As for how to coordinate the national culture,
aesthetic value and stylish mode in target markets, Claudia said,
each designer has his own Hamlet. To Claudia, she will always try
to understand the culture first through different channels as the
internet, TV, and books etc, and then complete the design according
to her personal understandings as well as the fashion trend. It is
the first time for her to come to China, when she arrived in China,
a mysterious oriental country to her, she has been cautious to everything,
because China is such a unique country. For her, as a designer, she
tried to feel and remember the difference. "Maybe my first time to
China will become my source of ideas in the future." Claudia smiled.
